LITE AGENDAS(1991)

Lite Agendas is a metaphorical look at the structure of class and race in our society.  White substance is injected from above and pitchforks of laborers harvest white powder below. The bars represent the prison system as well as other social constraints and divisions between groups of people.  Hypodermic syringes demonstrate forces of consumption and power. White powders are a product of technological refinement (e.g., sugar, flour, pharmaceuticals, cocaine, crack) and also an aesthetic evocation of addictive desire. I believe the marketing of "lite" reinforces the idea that lighter skin is more desirable.
